Wet room shower trays
A tileable shower element (also known as a shower tray or shower board) forms the basis for the installation of a level-access shower. It is also the basic shape of the shower and the shower cubicle above it.

Advantages of a level-access shower
The type of shower you choose depends on the space available in your bathroom and your visual preferences.
Elegant and future-proof
The great advantage of a level-access shower design is that it is ideal for all age groups. A tripping hazard or barrier in the form of a step, which poses a major risk in the bathroom in particular, can be easily avoided with a step-free shower. This is why these shower designs are also referred to as barrier-free.
Advantages of the shower element
- Very low and customisable installation height
- Already integrated gradient for the drain
- Possibility of realising different drains
- Can be individually tiled
- Accessibility possible
- 100% watertight thanks to integrated seal
A floor-level shower offers a wide range of design options. The tileable shower element serves as the basis for simple and easy installation.
The shower systems are also available as a threshold-free shower tray. This version no longer needs to be tiled, but has a surface made of high-quality, white acrylic.
Due to the low installation height, both the acrylic shower tray and the tileable shower element are suitable for installation when modernising old and new buildings - whether on a concrete or wooden floor.
Installation on screed or wood/parquet
More open room and shower feeling
The flowing transition from bath to shower not only reduces tripping hazards. The shower becomes an integral part of the bathroom thanks to a floor-level installation. There is no need for partitions that reduce the space. Thanks to the stepless, level installation, you no longer shower in a separate cubicle, but in the centre of the bathroom. The room appears less compartmentalised and therefore more open and larger.
Individual, elegant bathroom design
A level-access shower offers a wide range of installation options, regardless of the existing surface. Whether screed, parquet or wood - even with a total installation depth of 18 mm or more, all options are open to you (see illustrations and range). For an extra dose of individuality and elegance in the bathroom, shower elements can be tiled according to your own ideas and wishes. It doesn't just have to be tiles. How about small mosaic patterns, for example?
You can also decide whether you want to install a channel, wall or point drain. Simply take a look at our shower gallery for inspiration! Don't want to tile? The flat acrylic shower trays are an alternative to a customised tileable shower.
Your individual shower
Whether classic square, generously rectangular, unusually pentagonal or in a quarter-circle, semi-circle or round shape - choose the style that suits you and fits perfectly into your bathroom. From stylish space-saving versions to luxury showers, everything is available. Each shower board can be customised. You also have the option of adding height, coatings and a drain type at the desired position.
Use our shower element configurator and calculator for this. There you can:
- Select your individual basic shower shape,
- select the shower drain (classic point drain, shower channel or wall drain),
- select your customised shower enclosure (made of glass or as a tileable complete shower),
- select a suitable bathroom fitting and
- order the necessary accessories for installation at the same time (e.g. sealing tape, composite adhesive or sealing inner corner).
Or let us advise you free of charge and without obligation. We will be happy to help you choose a suitable walk-in shower!
How do I calculate the installation depth?
Horizontal: Total installation depth refers to the upper edge of the shower element (thickest point) to the lower edge of the pipe siphon.
Vertical: Total installation depth is specified without siphon, as it is assumed that this is sunk directly into the floor through an opening.
Point discharge
Shower channel
Gutter corner drain
Wall drain
The total installation depths for wall drains correspond to the thickness of the shower element, as it is assumed that the drain is located directly in the wall.
Possible floor drains for floor-level showers
- Point drain
- Shower channels
- Wall drain
In contrast to a simple tiling panel, the drain (point drain, shower channel or preparation for wall drain) is already integrated into the shower elements and water drainage is guaranteed by the integrated slope.
If you choose a floor element with a shower channel, this is also already integrated with the necessary gradient.
With the wall drain, the water seems to disappear into the wall as if by magic. The pre-assembled drain enables easy and safe installation in the pre-wall installation, even for DIY enthusiasts.
You can choose between different gratings for a customised design. These conceal the drain and give your shower a personalised touch. You can also choose a tileable grate.
Assembly and installation of a shower element
Thanks to the intelligent design of the board, you can realise the walk-in shower professionally yourself or have it installed by a craftsman. The shower element guarantees moisture protection for the floor layer underneath. This means that a shower can also be installed in the bathroom on a wooden floor, for example, without any problems.
Basic installation steps
- Planning and preparatory work
- Waterproofing to ensure moisture protection
- Tiling the shower
Installing a shower element from Saxoboard is child's play. The majority are already pre-assembled and ready to install. You can see how easy installation is in our guide to installing, sealing and tiling a level-access shower. Or download our installation instructions.
Please note that an expansion joint must be created around the shower element. If the expansion joint is missing, cracks may occur in the covering above.
In the following films, the installation of a board with shower channel or point drain is explained step by step. Further installation videos are available with the respective product.
