Wall niches for shower & bathroom
A wall niche serves as a practical shelf not only in the shower and rounds off the design of a modern bathroom. The wall element , also known as a shower niche, is available as a tileable shower shelf, made of solid surface material or in stainless steel.
Range for shower niches
Where can the shower recess be installed as a wall element in the bathroom?
The simplest answer to this question is: anywhere. Wall niches expand the storage space in the bathroom, no matter where you place them.
The wall unit in the shower is particularly popular as a shower niche. You are no longer reliant on baskets or shelves to store your shower utensils. Over time, these become covered in unsightly limescale and soap residue that is difficult to remove. The wall niche, on the other hand, is just as easy to clean as the rest of your bathroom tiles. Dispensing with a shower shelf also saves space and gives you more freedom of movement.
Above the bath or next to the toilet, the wall niche also offers space for care products and/or decorations. Especially with built-in LED lighting, it becomes an eye-catcher in the bathroom.
Surface of the wall niche
The question of material is first and foremost one of taste. Wall recesses are available in solid surface material or tileable. Tileable shower recesses from Saxoboard and our solid surface wall elements have an XPS core and are therefore completely waterproof.
Solid surface material
Solid surface material has a continuous surface. The material does not absorb any moisture and is an aesthetically pleasing solution. Solid surface material is ideal for niches in the shower if a shower tray made of the same material is also used.
Tiles
Most wall recesses can be tiled, allowing you to perfectly match them to the look of your bathroom. Of course, you can also deliberately choose a different type or colour of tile and add extra accents to the room.
Stainless steel
We offer high-quality shower trays made of stainless steel in various colours and with an all-round sealing fleece for absolute watertightness.
What needs to be considered when installing a tileable recess in the bathroom and shower?
When choosing a wall niche for the shower, the first thing to consider is the dimensions. Always bear in mind that the niche will lose a little space when tiled. This is particularly noticeable in terms of height if you opt for a rather narrow shower niche.
Installation options
- Installation in drywall construction
- Installation in brickwork
The wall elements are available as single, double or triple shelves.
