Substrate and preparation
The substrate for the Flex tile adhesive should be firm, load-bearing and free of cracks. Low-strength and/or non-load-bearing surface layers, extremely dense and/or smooth substrates, cement slurries, separating layers (e.g. dirt, dust, grease, oil, paint residues, etc.) must be removed and/or roughened (e.g. Blastrac method).
When laying the flexible adhesive with concrete blocks, ceramic tiles and slabs using the thin-bed method, the substrate must not exceed a maximum moisture content.
A primer is recommended for the flexible tile adhesive. We recommend Saxoboard primer for this purpose. If in doubt, create test areas and ask Saxoboard for advice if necessary.
